The Hadfield Trust gives grants to charitable organisations in Cumbria. We are keen to support community projects that meet the needs of the Cumbrian community and make a real difference to the quality of life of those living in the County.
We are particularly interested in projects that address social needs; youth and employment; help for older people; the arts and the environment. It is the intention of the Trustees that awards should benefit as many residents as possible, in particular those who are disadvantaged.
In 2001, in response to the Foot and Mouth outbreak that devastated Cumbria, particularly agriculture and tourism, the Hadfield Trust devised a Short Break Scheme funding much needed breaks for affected farming families at hospitality providers in Cumbria, thus providing greatly appreciated support to both sectors. This fund gave out over £500,000 including match funding and donations.
