The Austin Police Department (APD) has announced that applications are now open for the 154th Cadet Class. With more than 340 officer vacancies, the department is seeking individuals passionate about serving and protecting the community.
Candidates interested in taking the Civil Service Exam must submit their applications by Saturday, July 20, 2024. If accepted, candidates will take the Civil Service Exam on Saturday, August 3, 2024, followed by a physical fitness test on Sunday, August 4, 2024. The academy for the new cadet class will commence on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Meeting minimum requirements initiates a comprehensive selection process that includes written examinations, background investigations, psychological evaluations, physical fitness assessments, polygraph examinations, and interviews.
Personnel from the Recruiting Unit will be available to discuss the application process and required qualifications and to answer any other questions to provide clarity on starting a career with APD.
